Bharat Parv 2024 to Celebrate India's Heritage at Red Fort from January 26-31

The Bharat Parv cultural festival will take place at Red Fort from January 26-31, featuring tableaux, performances, and a grand food court. This event promotes India's rich heritage and domestic tourism.

The government will organise the annual Bharat Parv, a six-day cultural and tourism festival, starting on January 26 at the Red Fort lawns. This event is part of the Republic Day celebrations, according to officials. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will inaugurate the festival, as stated by the tourism ministry.

The festival aims to highlight India's diverse cultural heritage and promote domestic tourism. It provides a platform for artisans, states, and Union Territories to showcase their talents. The event also seeks to raise tourism awareness and strengthen national integration through cultural participation, officials noted.

Celebrating Unity in Diversity

Bharat Parv is the ministry’s flagship annual event celebrating India’s rich cultural, artistic, culinary, and spiritual heritage. It promotes national initiatives like Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, and Dekho Apna Desh. Over time, it has become a significant platform showcasing India’s unity in diversity and tourism potential.

This year's festival will feature 41 tableaux displays, various cultural performances, and shows by military and paramilitary bands. Handicraft stalls and state tourism pavilions will also be present. Bihar will highlight its makhana industry through a thematic tableau among other states.

Gastronomic Delights

A grand food court with 60 stalls will showcase cuisines from across India. Live cooking demonstrations will be a major attraction. The event will see participation from states and Union Territories, over 25 central ministries and departments, as well as leading institutions from across the country.

The public can visit the festival from 5-9 pm on January 25 and from 12 noon to 9 pm from January 27-31. Entry is free of charge for all visitors, according to the ministry's statement.

Significance of Vande Mataram

This year’s Bharat Parv holds special significance as it marks 150 years of "Vande Mataram," an iconic song that inspired India’s freedom movement. The theme reflects the constitutional spirit of unity in diversity and people’s participation, as highlighted by the ministry.

Bharat Parv is expected to attract large public participation. It serves as a vibrant celebration of India's heritage, tourism potential, and democratic spirit. The festival continues to be a testament to India's rich cultural tapestry.
