Atul Subhash's Suicide Case In Bengaluru Draws Attention; Kangana Ranaut Comments On Financial Extortion
The tragic case of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash has drawn widespread attention. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut expressed her sorrow over his suicide, highlighting the financial extortion he faced. She described the video he left behind, detailing his ordeal with his estranged wife, as deeply moving.
Atul's family has accused his wife, her relatives, and a judge of abetting his suicide. They have lodged a police complaint against them. "The entire country is in shock. His video is heartbreaking... Fake feminism is condemnable," Ms Ranaut stated in Hindi, wearing a pink saree and cream blazer.

Allegations of Extortion
In an 80-minute video recorded before his death, Atul accused his wife Nikita Singhania and her family of filing multiple cases against him to extort money. He also criticised the justice system in a 24-page suicide note. The couple married in 2019 after meeting on a matchmaking site and have a four-year-old son.
Atul alleged that Nikita's family demanded large sums of money from him repeatedly. When he refused further payments, she left their Bengaluru home with their son in 2021. In 2022, she filed cases against him and his family under various charges, including murder and unnatural sex.
Kangana Ranaut's Remarks
Kangana Ranaut noted that while some women misuse laws meant to protect them, most marriage issues are due to men's faults. "We cannot deny the number of women who are being harassed every day by taking the example of one wrong woman," she remarked.
The Supreme Court recently highlighted the misuse of laws protecting women from cruelty by in-laws. It urged caution in dowry harassment cases to avoid unnecessary harassment of innocent individuals.
Family's Plea for Justice
In his final message, Atul requested that his ashes not be immersed until justice was served. He also expressed a desire for his parents to gain custody of his child, whom he claimed had been kept away from him.
Kangana Ranaut emphasised that marriages thrive when rooted in tradition but have been tainted by ideologies like socialism and communism. Her comments come amid ongoing debates about gender roles and legal protections within marriages.
This case has sparked discussions about the balance between protecting women's rights and preventing misuse of legal provisions. It underscores the complexities involved in marital disputes and the need for fair judicial processes.
