However, Air India in its official statement said, "Air India clarifies that the incident about an insect being found in an on-board meal was brought to our notice by a passenger of today's KTM-CCU flight."

"However, the request to examine the food sample was turned down, and the food package was not shared or returned to us for investigation."

"We are thus not able to confirm the veracity of the claim being made. Air India follows all laid down procedures for such complaints and hence it was imperative to have the specimen with us for us to investigate the case," Air India added in the statement.

A day before it was reported that a passenger spotted a lizard in the meal tray provided by the airline. The incident took place on Air India's Delhi-London (AI-111) flight.
