‘Absurd, Motivated’: India Rejects Canada's Charge Over Khalistani Terrorist Killing
The central government on Tuesday rejected allegations by Canada of involvement in any act of violence in Canada, calling them "absurd and motivated." The allegations were made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Minister Melanie Joly in the Canadian Parliament.
India's Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying that the allegations were an attempt to shift the focus from Khalistani terrorists and extremists who have been provided shelter in Canada and continue to threaten India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement also expressed concern over the inaction of the Canadian government on this matter and the open sympathy expressed by Canadian political figures for such elements.

India also rejected any attempts to connect the Indian government to illegal activities including murders, human trafficking, and organized crime in Canada. The statement urged the Canadian government to take prompt and effective legal action against all anti-India elements operating from their soil.

The allegations come at a time when relations between India and Canada have been strained. In recent months, there have been a number of protests and demonstrations in Canada against India's human rights record and its treatment of Sikhs in particular. The Canadian government has also been criticized by some for its perceived support for Khalistani separatists.
