40 Passengers In Odisha Triple Train Crash May Have Died Of Electrocution: Report
At least 40 passengers from the Coromandel Express may have tragically lost their lives due to electrocution during the triple train crash in Odisha's Balasore district, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
News agency PTI reported that an FIR filed at the GRP in Balasore indicated that several passengers suffered injuries from the collision and subsequent electrocution after coming into contact with an overhead LT (low tension) line.

Officials stated that the overhead wires snapped as the coaches, which had overturned during the triple train accident, collided with electrical masts, as per PTI's report.
Earlier today, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took charge of the investigation and initiated a case into the devastating train accident that resulted in the loss of 278 lives and left thousands injured. The agency will examine all possible factors, including human error or intentional actions that may have led to the occurrence of the accident.
"A case has been registered by the CBI based on the request of the Ministry of Railways, with the consent of the Odisha government, and further orders from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), regarding the train accident involving the Coromandel Express, Yashwantpur-Howrah Express, and a goods train at Bahanaga Bazar in Odisha on June 2," stated a spokesperson from the CBI.
The CBI's involvement aims to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and uncover any potential negligence, deliberate actions, or other contributing factors that led to the collision and subsequent loss of life.
