22-year-old from Srinagar completes 110-km-long sprint in 10 hours 45 minutes
A 22-year-old athlete from Srinagar, Hamid Aziz, created history by running non-stop 110 km from Srinagar to Baltal on Sunday.

Hamid completed an ultramarathon run of 110 km in 10 hours 45 minutes. He became the first person from the state to run for a distance of more than 100 km in a single day.
According to Hamid,''I was inspired by a 55-year-old Australian who participated in an ultramarathon. I was supported by J&K Tourism Dept. I am now practicing to break the Indian record of a 180 km non-stop run. I also aim to break the world record of 303 km.''
Hamid has already covered 60 kilometers run on a single day earlier with his Australian marathon runner Pat Farmer who concluded his Pan India marathon in Srinagar on March 27, 2017.
Hamid also has plans to run 450 km in spring 2018 from Srinagar to Leh in seven days and 1000 kilometers in 2019 to ultimately aim for Kashmir to Kanyakumari run in five years of time.
