2024 Lok Sabha Polls: Phase 7 To Witness Voting For 57 Seats | Full Details
The schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls was announced by the Election Commission of India in a press conference on Saturday, where it was stated by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, "A truly festive, democratic environment is committed to being provided to the nation."
The term of the 17th Lok Sabha is set to expire on 16th June 2024, along with the terms of the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are also due. At a press briefing in the national capital, it was stated by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv that polling for Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting from April 19, with the votes being counted on June 4.

Lok Sabha Election 2024: States In Phase-7 Polling
Details of the poll schedule were shared by the CEC, stating that voting in the seventh phase will be held in eight states, encompassing 57 Parliamentary constituencies. The states scheduled to vote in this phase include Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, with the date of polling set for June 1, and vote counting scheduled for June 4.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also revealed that "We have 97 crore registered voters, 10.5 lakh polling stations, 1.5 crore polling officials and security staff, 55 lakh EVMs, 4 lakh vehicles." "A total of 96.8 crore electors are registered," he further added.
Opposition Bloc I.N.D.I.A's Battle to Halt BJP's Dominance
Amidst the resounding victory secured by the BJP with 303 seats in the last parliamentary elections, the balance of power is heavily tilted in favour of the ruling party, while the Congress party managed only 52 seats. However, the upcoming polls are deemed extremely crucial for the Opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A, which is striving to halt the BJP's dominance. In the last parliamentary polls, 303 seats were won by the BJP, while 52 seats were secured by the Congress.
