2024 Bollywood Box Office Recap: Movies That Ruled The Year; Check The List Inside
In 2024, Bollywood faced a challenging year at the box office, with many films struggling to attract a significant audience. However, some movies broke through these barriers, capturing the attention of viewers in droves and securing double-digit openings in crores. According to the Midday report, 'Pushpa 2' led the charge, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, and it set a new record by amassing a staggering Rs 72 crore on its first day in the Hindi market alone, with a worldwide gross of Rs 294 crore.
Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor's 'Fighter' made a notable entrance, collecting Rs 24.6 crore, while the pan-India film 'Kalki 2898 AD' featuring Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and others, impressed with Rs 22.5 crore in its Hindi dubbed version. 'Stree 2' stood out as the strongest Hindi film, pulling in Rs 55.4 crore despite competing with an Akshay Kumar movie, showcasing the star power of Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and their co-stars.
Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan', alongside Jyotika and R Madhavan, earned Rs 15.21 crore on its opening day, whereas 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff leading the cast, secured Rs 16.07 crore. 'Crew', featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and others, achieved a double-digit mark by collecting Rs 10.28 crore.
The Diwali release 'Singham Again', directed by Rohit Shetty and headlined by Ajay Devgn, made a splash with Rs 43.7 crore. 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', despite facing off against 'Singham Again' and starring Kartik Aaryan, fetched Rs 36.6 crore on its debut and eventually surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark. These performances underscored the fact that while the overall box office faced downturns, certain films managed to draw large audiences, demonstrating the enduring appeal of star-studded casts and compelling storytelling in Bollywood.
