Revanth Reddy Takes Oath As New Telangana CM, Bhatti Vikramarka Is His Deputy

After registering a thumping victory in the recently concluded Telangana Assembly polls, Anumula Revanth Reddy took oath as the new Chief Minister of the state on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony was held in the presence of central Congress leaders such as party President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka took oath as the Deputy CM of Telangana.

As per the reports, about 1 lakh people will be attending the event. Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former party president Rahul Gandhi are attending the swearing-in ceremony.

  • Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, Damodara Raja Narasimha, Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, and Jupalli Krishnarao are the other Congress MLAs who joined the Revanth Reddy's cabinet.
  • Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Revanth Reddy and other ministers.
  • However, the portfolios of each minister are yet to be announced. Gaddam Prasad Kumar will be the Speaker of the House.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the newly-elected Telangana CM. "Congratulations to Shri Revanth Reddy Garu on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana. I assure all possible support to further the progress of the state and the welfare of its citizens," the PM tweeted.
  • Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar took part in the event. It has to be noted that Shivakumar was one of the AICC observers appointed by the party leadership to coordinate the CLP meeting in Hyderabad.
  • CPI General Secretary D Raja is attending the function as per the invitation of Revanth Reddy. CPI is a pre-poll ally of Congress for the recent assembly elections.

    • State DGP Ravi Gupta said suitable arrangements have been made for traffic and others so that there is minimum inconvenience to the public.

    Revanth Reddy today took oath as Telangana CM and became the first Congress CM of Telangana and 2nd CM of the state created in 2014 following the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
