BRS Leader Junks Alliance Talks, Says Party Will Contest Telangana Elections Alone

Senior BRS leader and former Minister in KCR government, T Harish Rao on Monday strongly denied any possibility of his party entering into alliances for the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the BRS is set to compete independently, aiming to secure a resounding victory. Rao highlighted the party's determination to surpass the 100-seat mark in the elections, reinstating the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao as the Chief Minister. This statement was made amidst the State Formation Day celebrations, marking a bold stance against collaboration with other political parties.

Rao critically addressed the actions of both the Congress and BJP parties, accusing them of neglecting Telangana's interests. He specifically targeted the Congress-led state government's inaction over the Banakacharla project, despite the rapid advancement of the project by Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Rao condemned the support the BJP provided to Naidu, which he views as a betrayal to Telangana, which had elected eight BJP MPs. He announced plans to challenge the Banakacharla project in the Supreme Court, showcasing BRS's commitment to protecting the state's interests.

Rao also criticized the current state government under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for alleged corruption and favoritism. He accused the government of allocating Rs 12,000 crore to a select few contractors, neglecting smaller contractors owed Rs 1,200 crore. Rao highlighted the misallocation of funds, pointing out the lack of support for students and farmers, juxtaposed with spending on beauty pageants and infrastructure projects benefiting Congress leaders. He demanded accountability and swift action against those involved in unethical behavior.

The BRS leader did not hold back in his critique of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, labeling him a traitor to Telangana. Rao challenged Reddy to prove his claims of providing interest-free loans to women, threatening to resign if proven true. He urged Reddy to embrace the Jai Telangana slogan genuinely and prioritize the state's development by halting the Banakacherla project efficiently. Rao's admonishment extended to the handling of alleged misconduct involving a prominent contest, demanding immediate investigative action.
