Andhra Weather Update: Expect Heavy Rains For Next 4 Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across parts of Andhra Pradesh from November 26 to 29 due to the influence of a depression forming over the Bay of Bengal.

The weather system, which originated as a well-marked low-pressure area over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal, intensified into a depression on Sunday. As of Monday morning, it was centered 880 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 980 km southeast of Puducherry, and 1,050 km southeast of Chennai. IMD predicts it will move northwestwards and strengthen into a deep depression within 24 hours before approaching the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coast over the following two days.

  • November 29: The rainfall will extend to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely in isolated areas across Andhra Pradesh during this period.

Other Weather Developments

In addition to the rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, the IMD has also warned of dense fog across northern India:

  • November 26-30: Dense fog in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh.
  • November 28-December 1: Persistent fog expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh.

Residents in affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions, particularly in regions prone to waterlogging and reduced visibility due to fog. Authorities are on high alert, monitoring the situation as the depression progresses.
