Assam: BJP MP's daughter, 18 officers sent to police custody in cash-for-job scam
Guwahati, July 20: Nineteen government officials, including Pallavi Sharma-daughter of BJP Tezpur MP RP Sharma, were arrested in connection with cash-for-job scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) held in 2016.
According to Assam Tribune, the Court of Special Judge, Assam, remanded the 19 arrested to 11 days police remand on Thursday. All the candidates are from 2016 batch and asked to appear for a handwriting test on July 18. They were taken into custody as their handwriting did not match with that in their answer sheets in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) examination held in 2016.
RP Sarma, BJP MP, called it a political conspiracy against him ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The arrested officers are Utpal Bhuyan, Barnali Das, Susovan Das, Dhruvojyoti Chakraborty, Manzoor Ilahi Laskar, Moon Mazoomdar, Mustafa Ahmed Borbhuyan, Md Saibur Rahman Borbhuyan, Monika Teronpi, Ganesh Chandra Das, Srabanti Sen Gupta, Deepsikha Phukan, Leena Krishna Kakati, Gulshan Daolagapu, Pallavi Sharma, Bhargav Phukan, Rituraj Neog, Nipon Kumar Pathak and Suranjita Hazarika.
