Three 'connections' that bind Modi, Manmohan, Vallabhbhai Patel!

It was a rare visual treat to see the Modi, hopefully the successor of the incumbent PM Manmohan Singh to share the same platform on the occasion of the opening ceremony of Museum dedicated to the India's first home minister and the "Iron Man of India" Vallabhbhai Patel.
Besides, the Gujarat CM will also lay the stone-foundation to launch his ambitious project of erecting world's tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as "Statue of Unity" on October 31, on 138th birth anniversary of Patel, near Sardar Sarovar Dam.
Here lets get to know the "political connection" that binds Sardar Patel, Modi and Manmohan Singh:
Modi-Patel connection:
Last year, Modi announced that he will launch a iron-collection drive across the entire nation to construct the tallest statue of Patel. In most of his public rallies, addresses and programmes, Modi never forgets to mention the name of Patel. The prime reason behind this is that he wants to humiliate Congress. Because, history is witness to the fact that Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru never liked Patel.
Some historians have expressed opinions that Patel would have been a better prime minister for India than Nehru.
That's why, Modi always raises this point to show Congress that they never valued the importance of Patel.
Since, Patel played a pivotal role in Gujarat, may be that's why, the people of Gujarat do not want Congress to rule their state.
Manmohan-Modi connection:
Behind today's programme of Modi-Manmohan sharing the same dais, there is an interesting story. It has come to light that when the invitation was sent to the PM Singh for today's function, then Manmohan didn't believe that Modi will also be present there.
When the Union minister Dinsha Patel, who is the chairman of the society presented the invitation card to the PM and showed Modi's name on it, only then, Manmohan agreed to attend the function.
Earlier, PM was having hesitation in attending Patel's function, as according to the protocol, if PM is present at any government programme, then it is compulsory for the state CM to be present there.
Then, Manmohan thought, being a Congress rival, Modi will not attend the function, and it will be very insulting moment for him. But, when, Manmohan got the confirmation of Modi's presence, then he agreed to attend the programme.
The PM was the chief guest and Modi was the special guest in today's programme.
Manmohan-Patel connection:
Although, theere is no direct connection between the two, but if Congress wants to bag votes from Gujarat, then, a connection has to be built.
It's a well-known fact that for Gujaratis, no leader is greater than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. So, in order to garner votes from Gujaratis, the Congress has to work on a new strategy. Since, Congress cannot beat the drum on Gujarat's development model as it has been accomplished by Modi, so, at least, what they can do is to get some 'chance' by highlighting the role of Patel in Congress.
