Vidaamuyarchi Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad In Ajith-Starrer; Find Out From Viewers' Words

Ajith Kumar's much-awaited Tamil movie Vidaamuyarchi is finally has seen the light of the day on Thursday, February 6. The movie has Trisha Krishnan playing the female lead with Arjun Sarja enacting the role of a villain. The trio was earlier seen in Venkat Prabhu's hit movie Mankatha.

Regina Cassandra, Arav, Nikhil Nair, Ganesh Saravanan and Ramya Subramanian are part of the cast. The movie has Anirudh Ravichander's music, Om Prakash's cinematography and NB Srikanth's editing.

The Tamil movie, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, is a remake of the 1997 Hollywood film Breakdown.

Vidaamuyarchi Story

Arjun (Ajith Kumar) and Kayal (Trisha Krishnan) share a deep bond, but their lives take a drastic turn when Kayal is mysteriously abducted in Azerbaijan. As Arjun embarks on a desperate mission to rescue her, he faces relentless obstacles and an enigmatic enemy (Arjun Sarja), making his journey an intense race against time. With layers of deception and unexpected twists, Vidaamuyarchi attempts to craft a gripping thriller.

What Works:

Engaging Premise: The film's core story is intriguing, with a well-set premise that keeps the audience invested.

Strong Visual Appeal: The cinematography by Om Prakash is stylish, enhancing the overall mood and setting of the film.

Decent Twists: The screenplay, though slow, does offer some unexpected turns that elevate the intrigue, especially in the second half.

Ajith Kumar's Presence: While the role doesn't allow him to fully showcase his larger-than-life persona, Ajith delivers a commendable performance.

What Doesn't Work:

Pacing Issues: The biggest drawback of Vidaamuyarchi is its slow narration. The story takes too long to pick up, making parts of the film tedious.

Lack of Commercial Highs: While it's commendable that the director avoids unnecessary commercial elements, the film could have used a tighter screenplay to maintain engagement.

Underwhelming Music: Anirudh Ravichander's soundtrack is surprisingly underwhelming and doesn't add much to the film's impact.

Venky Reviews: Starts off slow and takes a bit of time to get into the plot but once it does, it becomes pretty interesting with some unexpected twists leading up to the interval. Director sticks to the plot and doesn't deviate with any commercial elements. 2nd half awaits!

#Vidaamuyarchi is a strictly mediocre action thriller that has an interesting storyline and some decently executed twists but is narrated in a very slow manner that gets tedious at times!

The basic plot line engages with some twists and the director doesn't deviate much by avoiding commercial elements. However, he fails to narrate it in a racy way which hampers the experience.

The film is stylistically shot and production values are good. Anirudh's music is standard and doesn't add much to this one. Ajith does well but does not have much room in this one to see the star side of him. Just ok!

Siddarth Srinivas: #VidaaMuyarchi Interval: Decent first half that starts off very well with some well made husband-wife portions and then shifts tone into a thriller. AK and the aesthetics are terrific but the straightforward approach without high moments limits its value. Let's see how it goes!
