'Vettaiyan' OTT Release: Date, Timing & Streaming Platform Details

Three weeks after its theatrical release, Rajinikanth-starrer 'Vettaiyan' is finally ready to hit the OTT platform.

It is a mass entertainer, directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, reuniting with Rajinikanth after 33 years, alongside Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, and others.

Story:

Athiyan (Rajinikanth), an encounter specialist, is unwavering in his pursuit of justice, even if it means bending moral boundaries. His life is upended when he crosses paths with Sharanya (Dushara Vijayan), a fearless schoolteacher who stands against injustice. When Sharanya is tragically murdered, Athiyan is thrust into a web of mysteries. What follows next should be seen on-screen. The film raises pertinent questions about the morality of police encounters, and whether they are justified, while weaving in multiple characters to explore this theme.

The movie has become one of the top grosser at the Kollywood box office in 2024. As per the trade reports, the movie has earned Rs 171.2 crore at the Indian box office. It has earned Rs 23.9 crore in Karnataka, Rs 21.54 crore from AP and Telangana, Rs 102.29 crore Tamil Nadu, Rs 16.71 crore from Kerala and Rs 7.37 crore from rest of India.

The movie was released to a massive hype on October 10 in multiple languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. Although the movie has not set the collection centres on fire like Rajini's earlier movies, TJ Gnanavel-directorial movie has managed to impress the actor's fans.

Meanwhile, the movie is set to be out on the OTT platform soon. The movie will be out on Friday at 12 am.

The movie will be released on Amazon Prime in four languages. The OTT platform has acquired the digital rights for Rs 90 crore.
