'Tires' Netflix Show Release Date Announced, Starring Comedian Shane Gillis, And Other Details
Netflix recently announced their latest comedy series, 'Tires', with it hitting the OTT platform on 23 May with six episodes. Possibly 24 May for the Indian audience, depending on the time of the release.
The series will be directed by John Mckeever and will cast actors and comedians Shane Gillis and Steven Gerben in the lead roles. The show was co-created by the three, who have also worked on other titles before, such as the Gilly and Keeves Show on YouTube.

The plot of the 'Tires' revolves around Will, played by Steven Gerben, who is the heir to a tire dealership. The series will follow Will trying to improve the business as Shane, an employee of the dealership played by Shane Gillis, does everything in his power to create tension and anxiety for Will through dark humour and skits.
This show comes as part of a larger collaborative effort between Shane Gillis and Netflix, which began with his appearance on the 'Netflix Is A Joke 2024 Festival'. According to Tudum Netflix, even before the premiere of the first season of the show 'Tires', Netflix has already confirmed that season 2 of the show will come out in 2025 alongside a new stand-up special starring Gillis.
Shane Gillis has been a bit of a controversial figure in the comedy space. He was fired from being a cast member on Saturday Night Live in 2019 due to the usage of racist and homophobic words in one of his episodes of 'Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast'.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the remarks led to SNL putting out a statement saying, "After talking with Shane Gillis, we have decided that he will not be joining SNL. The language he used is offensive, hurtful and unacceptable. We are sorry that we did not see these clips earlier, and that our vetting process was not up to our standard." Shane Gillis also went on social media to both apologise for the remarks and say that many of the clips circulating online were taken out of context.
Ironically, a couple years later, as Shane Gillis built up his brand, SNL invited him to host in February.
It remains to be seen whether Netflix will remain a more committed partner to Gillis and his comedic endeavours.
