'Thug Life' Sparks Backlash Over Kamal Haasan's 'Weird' Romantic Scenes With Much Younger Abhirami, Trisha
The eagerly anticipated trailer of 'Thug Life', starring Kamal Haasan, was unveiled on 17 May, generating a wave of excitement among fans thrilled to witness the iconic actor's reunion with director Mani Ratnam.
However, the trailer has also sparked controversy, particularly over a kissing scene and a romantic sequence involving Kamal.

On Saturday, a Reddit user shared a screenshot from the Thug Life trailer showing Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan, alongside another image of the actor kissing Abhirami, 42, captioned with, "Noo god please no."
The huge age gap between Kamal, 70, and Trisha, 42, quickly became a point of debate.
Reddit Shreds Kamal
One Reddit user commented, "An old man romancing a young woman isn't a problem as long as it's addressed. But an old man pretending to be young and romancing young girls is odd." Referring to the kiss with Abhirami, another user wrote, "This is so weird."
On the age gap between Kamal and Trisha, someone remarked, "Trisha is just three years older than Shruti Haasan, by the way."
Another joked, "Only 30 years apart. Practically soulmates!" One comment simply read, "Eww... brother, ew... what's that, brother?" while another stated, "Mani Ratnam ruining his legacy."
Some users, however, defended the actor.
One wrote, "There's nothing inherently wrong with the pairing, as the plot clearly depicts an older gangster having a relationship with a younger woman. But yes, the lip-lock between Abhirami and Kamal, who have a 30-year age difference, does seem a bit uncomfortable. Though perhaps the film portrays them as closer in age."
Another added, "They're two consenting adults, but still, the role of Kamal's wife could have gone to an older actress."
