'Disrespectful': Makeup Artist Zeba Walks Out Of Ambani Wedding Bash Over SRK's 'Idly' Remark On Ram Charan
Celebrities from various corners of the globe and India graced the three-day-long pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar.
The star-studded guest list included iconic figures like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Rihanna, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ram Charan, Rani Mukerji, Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor, among numerous others.

Shah Rukh Khan calls Ram Idli
During the second day of festivities, the audience witnessed a rare moment as the three legendary Khans - Salman, Shah Rukh, and Aamir - shared the stage, marking their reunion after a considerable time. They attempted to recreate the hook step from Ram Charan and Jr NTR's popular song "Naatu Naatu" from the film RRR. Ram Charan himself joined them on stage, adding to the excitement as they all danced together.
Shah Rukh Khan playfully referred to Ram Charan with a humorous term, akin to calling him 'idli,' while inviting him to join them on stage. This lighthearted gesture prompted a reaction from Ram's makeup artist, Zeba Hassan, who expressed her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan but expressed her disapproval of the way he called out to Ram Charan during the event.
Zeba says SRK was disrespectful towards Ram
According to the Free Press Journal, Zeba voiced her dissatisfaction with Shah Rukh Khan's behavior. In a post on her Instagram Stories, she wrote, "'Bhend idly vada Ram charan kahan hai tu (Calling out the names of snacks, Ram Charan where are you)???' I left the event after this incident. It was disrespectful towards a star of Ram Charan's stature."

Shah Rukh faces backlash
The comments and reactions on social media regarding Shah Rukh Khan's reference to Ram Charan as 'idli' highlight concerns about racial stereotypes and insensitivity towards South Indians. Some perceive Khan's comment as casually racist, suggesting that it perpetuates stereotypes about South Indian culture. The reference to Ram Charan, a prominent South Indian actor, as 'idli' has sparked criticism online, with users expressing disappointment and frustration.
Additionally, Zeba's statement on Instagram, though later deleted, touches on broader issues of discrimination and unequal treatment faced by artists from South India compared to those from Delhi or Mumbai. The statement suggests that there is a disparity in pay and recognition based on geographical origin within the Indian entertainment industry. Such sentiments shed light on deeper systemic issues within the industry and society at large.
