Ace OTT Release Update: Who Owns The Digital Rights Of Vijay Sethupathi's Film?

Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Ace has failed to set the box office oin fire. In its first week, it has managed to earn around Rs 6.47 crore nett at the India box office.

Arumuga Kumar-directed film has Rukmini Vasanth with Yogi Babu, BS Avinash, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Divya Pillai and others in the cast.

Story:

Driven by a desperate need to shed his criminal history and begin anew, Bold Kannan (Vijay Sethupathi) makes one last call to his incarcerated former associates before relocating to Malaysia. There, he forms an unlikely friendship with Arivu (Yogi Babu), a rag picker who projects the image of a successful businessman to impress Kalpana (Divya Pillai). Their lives intersect with Rukku (Rukmini Vasanth), a resilient woman juggling multiple jobs to survive, all while being tormented by memories of her abusive past with Rajadurai (Babloo Prithviraj).

The film, which was released on May 23, is a refreshingly fun crime comedy that's mostly lighthearted and makes for a good watch. Feels a slightly bloated in length, but thankfully has enough LOL moments to keep the proceedings going. One of those films where the hero picks brains over brawn. Rukmini shines in her Tamil debut with a meaty part. Yogi Babu gets a solid part to entertain after a long time.

OTT Rights

The digital rights of the movie were bagged by Amazon Prime eve before its release. Typically, the OTT platform follows four-week window. However, there are instances when movies have been released in 24 days (Kanguva) and 21 days (Ten Hours).

Considering that the movie is not pulling audience to theatres in big numbers, the chances of the movie releasing early are still a possibility.

Don't be surprised if Ace hits the screens either on June 13 or 20.

Meanwhile, Suriya's Retro has hit the OTT platform on Friday. It is out on Netlfix. Also, Sasikumar and Simran's hit movie Tourist Family will be out on June 2 on Jio Hotstar.
