Tamil Nadu Rain: What Weather Looks Like In Chennai During Ganesh Chaturthi Festival?

Chennai and neighbouring places are predicted to get light to moderate rain in the next 48 hours are people prepare to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.

In its weather latest update for the next 48 hours, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai said, "The sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Light/Moderate rain with thunderstorms & lightning is likely to occur in some areas,"

The maximum temperature is likely to be 34-35 °C and the minimum temperature is likely to be 25-26 °C for the next 48 hours.

The weather monitoring agency said that several places in the state will receive heavy rain in the next 48 hours.

"Light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai and Sivaganga districts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry and Karaikal area," the statement said.

"Fairly widespread thunderstorms likely to continue over Tamil Nadu as the hotspot shifts slight to the south over Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore and adjoining areas. Chennai and suburbs may see moderate #rains during evening/night hours," a weather blogger stated.

Meanwhile, Chennai is getting ready for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Going by the weather reports, it is clear that Tamil Nadu's capital might witness rains but it will not impact the festive celebration.

However, the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) have issued specific guidelines and regulations pertaining to the placement and worship of Ganesh idols within the city. The authorities have banned the bursting of crackers during the procession and at the places where idols have been installed.
