Tamil Nadu Weather Update: At least 9 districts are predicted to get heavy rains over the weekend. As per the Regional Meterological Centre, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts & Karaikal area will get heavy rains on February 27.
Tamil Nadu is set to experience heavy rainfall over the next few days, with the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai issuing alerts for several districts. The downpour is expected to begin on February 27, bringing much-needed relief from the rising temperatures recorded in recent days.

According to the RMC, districts including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Karaikal will receive heavy rains on February 27. The following day, February 28, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Karaikal.
On March 1, heavy showers are expected to continue over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Ramanathapuram districts.
No Major Temperature Drop Expected
Despite the forecasted rains, the RMC has stated that no significant changes in maximum temperatures will be observed in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next two days (February 25 & 26). However, a slight dip in temperatures is likely between February 27 and March 1.
Temperatures across Tamil Nadu have remained on the higher side in recent days, with several regions recording above-normal temperatures. On Monday, February 24, temperatures soared to 37.6°C in Erode, followed by 37.0°C in Karur, 36.4°C in Tirupattur, and 36.0°C in Madurai (AP).
Residents Advised to Stay Alert
With heavy rains expected, authorities have urged people in affected districts to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions. While the showers may bring respite from the heat, they could also lead to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in low-lying areas. Fishermen in coastal districts have also been advised to be cautious due to possible rough sea conditions.
