Popular weather blogger R Pradeep John, known for his updates, shared on social media, "Sizzling day in Chennai due to strong offshore winds not allowing the sea breeze to move into the city. Yesterday night at 8 pm the Temp was 35°C, shows there was no sea breeze movement into the city."

He further explained that conditions improved as the sea breeze managed to enter the northern parts of Chennai on Tuesday, sparking several pop-up showers. "Sea breeze interaction with these storms can flare up as they bring much needed moisture," he added.

The blogger also predicted that Chennai's soaring temperatures are likely to ease in the coming days. "Today is most probably the peak hot day. In the coming days, the temperature will gradually fall in Chennai from the 39°C mark to 1 to 2°C lower," he wrote.

Meanwhile, another well-followed weather handle, Chennai Rains, noted that some weak thunderstorms had already passed over parts of the city. "A moderate storm is now visible west of Chennai, which could potentially bring some more rains to a few areas if it interacts with the sea breeze front south of the city," the post said.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, can expect thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas.

On the temperature front, Madurai Airport recorded Tamil Nadu's highest maximum temperature at 39.4°C, while Karur Paramathi registered the lowest minimum at 22.0°C among the plains.

Overall, maximum temperatures were reported to be 2-4°C above normal in a few places across Tamil Nadu, while most other parts of the state, including Puducherry and Karaikal, experienced temperatures close to normal levels.
