Tamil Nadu SSLC Exams: Answer Sheet Evaluation Begins; Class 10 Result Likely On This Date

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) Tamil Nadu has officially moved into the final phase of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) cycle. Following the conclusion of the Class 10 board exams today, 6 April 2026, the state-wide evaluation of answer scripts has commenced immediately.

To ensure the integrity of the results, the School Education Department has established dedicated evaluation camps across Tamil Nadu. Thousands of qualified teachers have been drafted for the marking process, operating under a set of stringent guidelines designed to eliminate discrepancies.

Total Candidates: 9,09,002

School Students: 8,82,806 (from 12,467 institutions)

Private & Prison Candidates: 25,801 private; 395 inmates

Infrastructure: 4,219 examination centres

Personnel: 45,000+ teachers on duty and 4,800+ flying squads to deter malpractice.

The department also prioritised inclusivity, providing scribes and tailored assistance to 12,292 differently-abled students, ensuring an equitable testing environment for all.

As the state awaits the 2026 results, historical data suggests a consistently high standard of academic achievement in Tamil Nadu, with a notable trend of female students outperforming their male counterparts.

In the 2025 examinations, the gender gap in performance was particularly evident, with girls achieving a 95.88% pass rate compared to 91.74% for boys-a significant margin of 4.14%. Districts such as Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, and Thoothukudi have traditionally dominated the rankings, often recording pass percentages well above the state average.
