Chennai Gold Rate Today (April 6): Gold Drops Over Rs 150 - Check Latest Price In GRT, Lalitha & Other Shops

If you've been holding off on buying gold, today's rates may finally offer some relief. Gold prices across Chennai's leading jewellery stores have dropped by over ₹150 per gram on April 6, bringing a noticeable dip in rates, while silver continues to remain largely unchanged.

Chennai Gold Price Today At Tamil Nadu's Jewellery Shops

Across major names such as GRT Jewellers, Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers and Lalitha Jewellery, gold prices have seen a clear dip. Oneindia has complied the rates of gold and silver from the leading Tamil Nadu brands.

At GRT, 22-carat gold is priced at ₹13,670 per gram, down from ₹13,835 yesterday - a drop of ₹165. Similarly, 24-carat gold has declined to ₹14,924 from ₹15,104, while 18-carat and 14-carat variants have also fallen to ₹11,193 and ₹8,705 respectively.

A similar trend is visible at Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, where 22KT gold matches GRT at ₹13,670, reflecting a fall from ₹13,835. However, 24KT gold here shows a marginal uptick to ₹14,924 from ₹14,907, indicating slight variation in pricing strategies among jewellers. Lalitha Jewellery too has aligned its 22KT gold price at ₹13,670, mirroring the broader market decline.

Not all jewellers have followed the same pace of reduction. At Saravana Stores Elite Jewellery, 22KT gold is priced slightly higher at ₹13,830, only marginally down from ₹13,835. Meanwhile, Jeyachandran Gold House lists 22KT gold at ₹13,810, compared to ₹13,850 yesterday, and 24KT gold at ₹15,065, showing a smaller drop than peers.

At Swarna Maligai, 22KT gold stands at ₹13,810, down ₹40 from the previous day, while 18KT gold has eased to ₹11,520. D.A.R Jewellery also reflects the broader trend, with 22KT gold at ₹13,670 and 18KT at ₹11,193, both down from yesterday's levels.

Looking beyond Chennai, Kota Gold Jewellery shows a sharper correction. In Coimbatore, 24KT gold is priced at ₹14,913 per gram, down from ₹15,000, while 22KT gold has dropped to ₹13,670 from ₹13,750 - reinforcing the broader downward movement across Tamil Nadu markets.

Silver prices, on the other hand, remain largely stable in Chennai at ₹255 per gram across most leading jewellers. However, D.A.R Jewellery quotes slightly varied rates depending on purity, with standard silver at ₹215, 92.5 silver at ₹234, and 99.9 silver bars at ₹239 - all showing a marginal increase from the previous day. In Coimbatore, silver has seen a notable rise to ₹250 per gram from ₹225 yesterday, indicating regional variation.

Overall, April 6 brings a welcome dip in gold prices for buyers, particularly in the 22KT segment, which is widely preferred for jewellery.
