Tamil Nadu Horror: Man Tries To Abduct, Sexually Assault Minor Girl; CCTV Footage Goes Viral

A shocking video of a man trying to abduct and sexually assault a minor girl has gone viral. The incident occurred on Saturday (July 12) in Tiruvallur district near Gummidipoondi town.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai has shared a video of the incident on his X account and urged the police to nab the culprit soon. The accused had tried to kidnap the 10-year-old girl while she was returning from school.

The minor girl has managed to escape from the paedophile as she raised alarm, according to a report in DTNext. It is reported that the girl is studying in class 4 in Gummidipoondi.

CCTV Footage Goes Viral

In the clip, the accused is seen walking behind her before trying to grab her and drag her to the side of the bushes. The girl informed about the incident to her grandmother who has lodged a complaint with the local police.

The CCTV footage of the incident has now gone viral, raising concerns about the law and order situation in the region.

The Arambakkam police have swung into action and formed special teams to catch the culprit.

Responding to the incident, Annamalai said, "It is deeply distressing that even after five days since the crime, the culprit has not yet been arrested. The fact that such criminals, who engage in sexual offenses without regard for the victim being a minor, are freely roaming outside shows how dangerous the environment society is in.

The question arises not only about how many times such a criminal, who so boldly commits sexual assault on a minor walking on the road, might have engaged in sexual crimes before, but also that his not being arrested yet creates the possibility for him to commit further crimes."

The latest incident reminds of the sexual assault incident of a 13-year-old girl by three school teachers in Krishnagiri district in February 2025. Three teachers were arrested following a complaint filed by the survivor. Similarly, a school girl was sexually assaulted at fake NCC camp in the same district in August 2024.
