Is It 'Vulgar' Or Just Celebration? Dance At Chennai Doctors' Conference Under Fire After Video Goes Viral

A dance performance at the 47th annual conference of the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India (ACRSICON 2024) in Chennai has sparked controversy, with many netzens labeling it "vulgar" and inappropriate for a professional medical event.

Footage from the event, which took place between September 19 and 21 at Taj Coromandel, has gone viral on social media, particularly on the platform X (formerly Twitter). The video shows a woman, dressed in shorts with a sheer overlay and a matching crop top, dancing in a room full of men.

Doctors Conference Vulgar Video

She is seen inviting some of the audience members to join her on the dance floor as Telugu song 'Ra Ra Rakamma' from Kiccha Sudeep-starrer 'Vikrant Rona'. The men, many holding drinks, are shown dancing with her, while a banner in the background confirms the event as ACRSICON 2024.

The video was shared by a user who questioned the appropriateness of the performance, asking if this was a form of "training in human anatomy" and criticizing the behavior of the doctors. The post quickly drew mixed reactions, with some calling the performance indecent, while others defended the doctors for simply having fun.

Critics labeled the dance as "vulgar" and inappropriate for a medical conference, questioning the lack of female attendees and the suitability of the performance at such an event. "What kind of conference is this?" one user asked, while another wondered why women are often made to dance at official functions, calling it an exploitation of women. Physician Raj Shankar Ghosh also commented, calling the performance "very shameful."

On the other hand, supporters downplayed the controversy, pointing out that no one was "grabbed" as suggested by the original post. Many defended the doctors, arguing that they deserve to unwind and have fun after years of hard work. "Doctors are also humans, why can't they have fun?" one user asked, while another pointed out that the dancer herself invited people to join in, which shouldn't be misinterpreted.

Despite the online debate, it remains unclear when or by whom the dance performance was organized, and whether it was part of the official ACRSICON 2024 program. The video continues to polarize opinion as discussions around professionalism and entertainment at such events grow.
