The Chennai Food Festival, inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, is a celebration of diverse culinary delights from across the state.

35 Foodstalls, 7 Food Counters

Held at Marina Beach, this festival was organized by self-help groups under the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, showcasing the talents of over 150 women from 65 SHGs. With 35 food stalls and 7 fast-food counters offering 286 varieties of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, the event provided a rich tapestry of flavours.

Variety Of Food In The Menu Card

The food items offered at the Chennai Food Festival are as varied as the districts they came from. The festival highlighted unique regional specialities, from Dharmapuri's Rava Khajoor to Coimbatore's Kongu Mutton Biryani. Visitors could indulge in a variety of ready-to-eat treats like Srivilliputhur Palkova and Tirunelveli Halwa, or savor freshly made dishes like the iconic Madurai Curry Dosai, Virudhunagar Karandi Omelette, and the famous Arcot Biryani.

Each stall has a distinct flavour profile reflecting the essence of its district. Krishnagiri, known for its millet-based dishes, offered Millet Alwa and Kambu Cutlet, while Coimbatore tempted food lovers with Kongu Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani. For those seeking something spicy, Karur's Nattu Kozhi Biryani and Pallipalayam Chicken proved irresistible. Meanwhile, stalls from Dharmapuri presented traditional dishes like Kambu Koozh and Rava Kajoor, complementing the rich culinary experience.

Some stalls, like those from Salem and Tiruppur, showcased street food delights such as Thattu Vadai and Kuzhippaniyaaram, perfect for a quick snack. And for dessert lovers, the festival had options ranging from the sweet Pineapple Kesari from Krishnagiri to the delicious Arisi Kozhukkattai from Vellore.

In addition to the food stalls, there are sales exhibitions of 45 household products in separate halls, providing a vibrant shopping experience. The festival was further enlivened by traditional musical performances and cultural programs, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Parking Free

Visitors had a convenient payment system through QR cards, allowing them to easily top-up and enjoy the wide array of offerings. Throughout the event, there were also training sessions on the quality of organic products and marketing techniques, enriching the experience for both food lovers and budding entrepreneurs.

The Chennai Food Festival ran till December 24, offering free entry for all, allowing both locals and tourists to sample the finest of Tamil Nadu's rich culinary heritage.
