As Vijay Takes A Stand On CAA, Video Of Rajinikanth's Views On Contentious Act Goes Viral

A video of Rajinikanth expressing his views on the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 has gone viral. It comes after actor Vijay, who has floated his political outfit 'Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam' (TVK), criticised the act and asked the Tamil Nadu government not to implement it.

In the 4-year-old viral video, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who was keen to take a political plunge then, had backed the CAA CAA is no threat to Muslims."If they face trouble, I will be the first person to raise voice for them," he had said. "How will Muslims who chose to stay back in India following Partition be sent out of the country?" he added.

He had attacked "some parties" who misleading the people for political gains. "The government has assured that Indian people will have no issues in respect of CAA. Some political parties are instigating people against CAA for their selfish interests," Rajinikanth added.

The video of his remarks has now gone viral.

This is being shared by Rajini fans as Vijay's stand on the CAA has evoked mixed reaction. While Thalapathy fans have welcomed his stance, another section felt that he should have made strong comments.

In a statement, Vijay said, "It is not acceptable to implement any law like the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA) in an environment where all citizens of the country live with social harmony," the actor said in a statement. He also requested the DMK government in Tamil Nadu not to implement in the state. "The leaders should ensure that this law does not get implemented in Tamil Nadu,"
