Veteran Indian Businessman Ram Buxani Passes Away In Dubai At 83
Dr. Ram Buxani, a prominent Indian businessman and philanthropist based in Dubai, passed away at the age of 83 following an incident at his home on a Sunday morning around 1am.
Dr. Buxani had a significant impact on the business and social landscape of the UAE.

Who Was Ram Buxani?
He arrived in Dubai in November 1959 at the young age of 18, starting a journey that would see him become a respected figure in the region's business community. He was the chairman of the ITL Cosmos Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests in various sectors including hospitality and food & beverage, as reported by Khaleej Times.
Throughout his life, Dr. Buxani was deeply committed to community service and philanthropy. He played a pivotal role in establishing institutions like the Indian High School and the India Club in Dubai. He was one of the founding members of the India Club and served as its chairman for two terms. His efforts extended beyond education and cultural preservation; he was also actively involved in promoting Sindhi culture and arts, a cause close to his heart, as per local reports.
Dr. Buxani held leadership positions in several organizations, reflecting his influence and commitment to community development. He served as the President of the Rotary Club of Jumeirah and was actively engaged in advocating for education and bridging the gap between the Government of India and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
His contributions were widely recognized both in India and the UAE. He received prestigious awards such as the Shield of Honour from the President of India in 1983 and the Bharat Gaurav Award in 2002, as reported by Khaleej Times. He was also acknowledged as one of the most influential Indians in the UAE by Forbes Middle East and was listed among the richest Indians.
Dr. Buxani's business ventures, starting with the first Cosmos showroom in Deira in 1969 and expanding into hospitality and F&B sectors, marked his entrepreneurial spirit and vision. He was instrumental in the growth and diversification of the ITL Cosmos Group, which continues to be a significant player in the UAE's business landscape, as per media report.
His passing is mourned not only by his family and friends but also by the wider community in Dubai and beyond, where his legacy as a visionary entrepreneur and dedicated philanthropist will be remembered for years to come.
