Odisha targets to provide Aadhar cards to all by December
Bhubaneswar, Sep 14: Setting a target to provide Aadhar cards to all people living in the state by December, the Odisha government today asked District Collectors to adopt the method of Gram Panchayatwari saturation model for enrolment.
"Very soon we will deploy more number of kits in Odisha. The district administrations in the state are taking proactive steps and the enrolment has been expedited. We hope to complete 100 per cent enrolment within four months which is by end of December," said Deputy Director General UIDAI M V S Rami Reddy, who attended a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary A P Padhi.

Aadhar enrolment in Odisha has picked up with around 78 per cent of achievement in the last couple of months, he said. While reviewing the progress, Padhi directed the DCs to adopt the method of Gram Panchayatwari saturation model for enrolment. He directed the DCs to give special focus on Anganwadi centres, schools and hostels for Aadhar enrolment of the students left out so far.
"The Collectors were further advised to make use of the house to house SSA survey data available in schools and mass education department," IT secretary P K Jena said. Of the targeted enrolment of around 4.43 crore people keeping in view the population of 2015, 3.45 crore Aadhar numbers have been generated by August 31, 2016.
Similarly, Aadhar seeding of the beneficiaries of public distribution system has gone up to around 69 per cent against the national seeding average of around 61 per cent. The seeding in MGNREGA has also gone up to 61 per cent, Jena said. "Now district wise work plans have been put in place for enrolment of the balance 99.36 lakh people. The majority of this population is in the age group of 0-17 years," he said.
A total of 24 enrolment agencies of six non-state registering bodies, NSDL along with ECIL have been engaged in the work of enrolment. The state government have requested the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to enhance deployment of kits and operators along with necessary equipments and staff.
