Congress demands CBI probe into Mandsaur rape case

Bhopal, June 30: Opposition party on Saturday Congress demanded CBI probe into the rape of an 8-year-old girl in Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh. The girls was abducted and raped by a labourer on Tuesday.

Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, said, "Congress It took a lot of time to lodge an FIR in the rape case of a 8-year-old girl in Mandsaur. Even today the investigation is not going in the right direction. We demand a CBI inquiry in the case. Women in my state don't feel safe."

The police booked Irfan Khan (20) labourer for kidnapping and rape under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was arrested on the basis of CCTV footage that showed him taking the girl with him after school hours.

Mandsaur residents called for a bandh on Thursday to register their protest against the rape, local Anjuman Islam head Yunus Sheikh declared that Khan would not be accorded any burial space after his death.
