Who Clicked Darshan’s Viral Photo Inside Jail? How Drugs Entered Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara?

A new wave of controversies has emerged from Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Jail, where special privileges were allegedly extended to notorious rowdy-sheeter Wilson Gordon Nagaraj, and actor Darshan was reportedly allowed to use a mobile phone. The unfolding scandal has raised serious concerns about the security within the prison, especially after attempts to smuggle valuable synthetic drugs were exposed.

The arrest of Shabbir Sharif (30) by Parappana Agrahara police station has unveiled a broader drug supply network within the jail. Shabbir, who attempted to smuggle drugs into the facility, is now the focus of a deep investigation as authorities work to uncover the roots of the drug trade targeting the prison.

Darshan s Viral Photo Inside Jail

During the investigation, it was confirmed that a widely circulated photo showing actor Darshan smoking a cigarette and holding a tea mug with Wilson Garden Naga inside the jail actually featured rowdy-sheeter Double Meter Mohan. Mohan, along with 21 other associates of Wilson Garden Naga, is currently serving time in connection with the Siddapur Mahesh murder case.

While Darshan was in jail on charges related to a Renukaswamy murder case, he was seen socialising with Wilson Naga over tea. Mohan, who was nearby, captured the moment on his mobile phone and sent the image to his gang members outside the jail via WhatsApp, stating, "Naganna is with the boss." The photo quickly went viral, raising questions about security lapses within the facility.

Fearing the fallout from the viral photo, Mohan attempted to destroy the evidence by flushing the mobile phone down the toilet. Authorities are now investigating how Mohan, an inmate, managed to acquire the mobile phone in the first place.

Attempted Drug Smuggling in Shoes

In another shocking revelation, Syed Suhail, an undertrial prisoner in Parappana Agrahara Jail, was implicated in an attempted drug smuggling operation. On September 9, Shabbir, who had received a visitor pass to meet Suhail, arrived at the jail carrying a suspicious bag. While the initial inspection by the KSISF personnel found nothing unusual, a closer examination revealed that a pair of new slippers in the bag had been tampered with-cut and re-glued in the middle. Upon further inspection, the police discovered 46 grams of MDMA crystals hidden within the shoes.

Following the discovery, Jail Deputy Superintendent Karna B. Kshatri filed a complaint against Shabbir and Syed Suhail, leading to charges under the NDPS Act and the Jail Violation Act. Shabbir claimed ignorance, stating that he had only been asked to deliver the bag by a friend of Suhail and was unaware of the drugs hidden inside.

The seized MDMA, valued at approximately Rs 2.30 lakh, is suspected to have been smuggled into the jail with the intention of being sold. Authorities are currently seeking court permission to take Suhail into custody for further interrogation, which is expected to shed light on the intended use of the drugs and potentially unravel the broader network supplying narcotics to the prison.

The recent incidents have sparked serious concerns about security protocols within Parappana Agrahara Jail, highlighting potential lapses that allowed high-profile prisoners like Wilson Garden Naga and Mohan to flout rules so openly. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover how mobile phones and synthetic drugs are finding their way into what is supposed to be a highly secure facility.
