Where Will Bengaluru's Second International Airport Be Located? Government to Announce Soon

Karnataka, a key economic driver in South India, is embarking on an ambitious journey to enhance its infrastructure and drive sustainable economic growth. The state's plans focus on decongesting Bengaluru, improving logistics for exporters, and fostering balanced regional development. Among the most exciting proposals are the development of a second international airport in Bengaluru, the construction of two additional ports on the western coast, and the creation of satellite cities.

A New Airport for Bengaluru

Bengaluru s Second International Airport

Karnataka is moving forward with plans for a second international airport to accommodate the city's growing air traffic. Bengaluru's current Kempegowda International Airport handles over 30 million passengers annually, and this capacity is rapidly nearing its limits. To address this, the state government is working on identifying the ideal location for the new airport.

According to Naseer Ahmed, the political secretary to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, the government is actively evaluating several sites, including Kunigal, Ramanagara, Bidadi, and Harohalli. "We are in the process of identifying the best locations for the second airport," Ahmed said at the NRI Invest Summit & Buyers' Meet in Dubai. "With the first airport already handling more than 30 million passengers annually, there is a clear need for additional capacity, and the second airport will help meet this demand."

The NRI Invest Summit: A Global Invitation to Invest in Karnataka

As part of its efforts to boost economic growth, Karnataka is reaching out to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) through the NRI Invest Summit & Buyers' Meet. This unique initiative, the first of its kind organized by a state government, aims to attract global investments and foster business partnerships with NRIs. The summit is an opportunity for NRIs to explore the vast potential of Karnataka's business landscape and connect with opportunities in the state.

The government is actively inviting vendors and service providers to establish trade partnerships, focusing on Karnataka-based products and services. By doing so, it hopes to strengthen its economic ties with the global community and encourage sustainable business growth.

Expanding Infrastructure for Balanced Growth

In addition to the second airport, Karnataka is also planning to expand its logistics and transportation infrastructure. The government is working on the development of two additional ports along the western coast, which will enhance the state's capabilities for both domestic and international trade. These ports will provide essential support to exporters and improve Karnataka's position in the global supply chain.

To further decongest Bengaluru, the state is also planning to create satellite cities. These cities will help alleviate pressure on Bengaluru, one of the most rapidly growing urban centers in India. The development of these new cities will provide ample space for businesses to thrive, while also improving the quality of life for residents.

In collaboration with News Trail, an English daily published in Bengaluru and Qatar, the Karnataka government is focused on creating long-term economic value. By inviting international investments and fostering strategic partnerships, Karnataka aims to further solidify its reputation as a leader in innovation and economic development.

With its strong commitment to infrastructure development and economic diversification, Karnataka is poised to offer a wealth of opportunities to investors and businesses alike. The state's proactive approach to modernizing its infrastructure will not only cater to the growing needs of Bengaluru but will also ensure sustainable growth for the entire region.
