Viral Video Shows RCB Fans Jumping Namma Metro Gates on Day of Stampede; Sparks Debate on Civic Sense

As chilling visuals from the tragic RCB victory celebration continue to emerge, one video is now going viral - capturing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans jumping over metro station gates, bypassing ticketing systems, and rushing through Namma Metro premises.

The footage, first shared by the popular Instagram page Bengaluru Updates, shows dozens of commuters skipping gates at a crowded metro station on June 4 - the same evening a stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives and left many others injured.

Namma Metro Madness: Record-Breaking Crowd, Zero Control

According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the Namma metro system experienced record-breaking ridership that day, with 9,66,732 commuters - the highest in its history.

The rush was triggered by RCB's IPL 2025 title victory and the last-minute announcement of a felicitation ceremony in central Bengaluru. As thousands thronged the city center, metro stations turned chaotic, with poor crowd control measures and suspended train halts at key stations contributing to the unrest.

Online Reactions:

The viral video has led to a wave of reactions online. Many netizens condemned the behavior, saying it reflects a lack of civic sense.

"Passion is great, but discipline and safety must never be compromised," one user commented.
"Where is the civic sense? Jumping gates may seem harmless, but in crowds like this, it's dangerous," wrote another.

Others, however, attempted to explain the situation. One user claimed that due to suspended train stops, many passengers were trapped inside metro premises for hours, with no way to exit.

"The trains weren't halting. People got stuck for nearly two hours. The person filming even asked the guards to open the gates, but they refused due to technical issues," the comment read.

Despite some users expressing sympathy, the dominant sentiment online was one of disappointment and concern.

"Doesn't matter if they're locals or outsiders - this behavior is unacceptable and unsafe," said another user, echoing public anger.
