Six-Year-Old Girl Murdered In Whitefield, Bengaluru; Here's What The Preliminary Report Says

In a shocking incident, a six-year-old girl was found murdered after being allegedly abducted from a migrant workers' colony at Pattandur Agrahara in Whitefield, east Bengaluru. Police said the girl's body was discovered in a dry canal near the settlement on Wednesday.

The victim belonged to a family of migrant labourers from West Bengal. Her father, Injamul Sheikh, had filed a missing complaint with the Whitefield police on January 6, a day after his daughter went missing.

According to his complaint, the girl disappeared on the afternoon of January 5, and he suspected another migrant worker, identified as Yusuf Meer, who lived nearby, of being involved in the crime.

Body Recovered; Police Begin Investigation

Following the complaint, police teams launched a search operation in the surrounding area. The child's body was later found in a dry canal close to the colony. The discovery sent shock waves through the local community, with residents expressing deep grief and concern over the safety of children in the area.

Preliminary investigation and postmortem findings indicate that the girl was strangled to death. However, officers confirmed that there were no signs of sexual assault. Police believe that the killing may have been motivated by personal revenge or anger, though the exact reason is still being investigated.

A senior police officer stated that the accused, Yusuf Meer, is currently absconding and efforts are being made to locate him. Teams have been dispatched to track his movements, and checkpoints have been alerted in and around Bengaluru.

Family Denies Any Conflict With the Suspect

Meanwhile, the girl's father, Injamul Sheikh, told the police that he had no known conflict, financial dispute, or enmity with Yusuf Meer. He said the accused had been living in the same area for some time and there had never been any arguments between them.

The Whitefield police have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to trace the suspect's movements.

The police have assured the family that strict action will be taken once the accused is caught. Further investigation is ongoing.
