Prajwal Revanna Sexual Assault Case: Karnataka HC Rejects Ex-JDS MP's Bail Application

In the sexual harassment case, the Karnataka High Court on Monday denied bail to former Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) MP Prajwal Revanna. The decision was reserved on September 19 by Justice Nagaprasanna's court and today the verdict was announced. Revanna is facing three separate cases of sexual harassment and rape.

Karnataka HC's Reserved Verdict

Justice M Nagaprasanna heard arguments concerning his application in the initial case and two anticipatory bail pleas related to subsequent allegations. During proceedings, advocates were instructed not to mention victims' names but to highlight specific details in documents.

Revanna, aged 33, was apprehended by Special Investigation Team on May 31 this year upon returning from Germany. His arrest followed an application by the SIT, which led to a warrant issued by a Special Court for Elected Representatives on May 18. He had left for Germany on April 27, just after polling in Hassan.

Details of Allegations

The first case against Revanna was registered at Holenarasipura Town police station in Hassan on April 28. He is accused of sexually harassing a 47-year-old former maid. The second case was lodged by the CID on May 1 after a former member of Hassan Zilla Panchayat accused him of rape.

A third case involves a woman in her 60s from Mysuru's K R Nagara who was also a domestic help. Her son initially filed a kidnap complaint at K R Nagar police station on May 2, alleging his mother's abduction.

Additional Charges

Prajwal faces another charge filed on June 12 at Bengaluru's cyber crime police station under CID. This complaint accuses him of sexual harassment over a video call, stalking, criminal intimidation, and privacy violation under the IT Act. The complainant alleges she was harassed during a video call.

Prajwal's brother Suraj Revanna, a JD(S) MLC, was also arrested by CID concerning forceful unnatural sex cases reported by JD(S) male workers.
