Nandini Milk Price Hike On The Horizon? Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Hints At Price Rise Again

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday hinted at hiking the prices of Nandini milk again.

Speaking at the launch of several developmental programs at Magadi in Ramanagar district, the Chief Minister said that a meeting of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) will be called to discuss the hike in milk prices.

Siddaramaiah stated that the hike in milk prices is possible if the people cooperate.

Taking dig at JD(S), Siddaramaiah said, "You all claim to be the children of farmers, but when there's a Rs 3 hike or any increase, you complain. You say you are farmers' children, but what have you done for them? You say it without doing anything," he criticised.

When I was Chief Minister earlier, it was our government that celebrated Kempegowda Jayanti. Many Vokkaliga leaders, including former CM HD Kumaraswamy, failed to do so. Directions were issued to celebrate Kempegowda Jayanti when I was CM, and we will support Magadi's overall development. HC Balakrishna deserves to be a minister, but only 34 people, including the Chief Minister, have that opportunity.

Despite not being a minister, HC Balakrishna has been at the forefront of development work, possessing all the necessary qualifications. They (opposition) say there is no money for development due to guarantees, but then how did development work worth Rs 120 crore happen? BJP only spreads lies, Siddaramaiah said.

Magadi, a prominent town on the outskirts of Bengaluru, is known as Kempegowda's capital. Kempegowda, who built Bengaluru, ruled from Magadi, and there is a strong sentiment that Magadi should also see significant development.

It may be recalled that in June this year, KMF had increased milk prices by Rs 2, offering an extra 50 ml of milk per packet, making a total of 550 ml available in each packet.
