Namma Metro's Revenue Soars To Rs 25 Crore In 10 Days As Work From Office Revives

Bengaluru's Namma Metro is experiencing a surge in demand, with daily ridership numbers reaching a record high of over eight lakh passengers. The increased footfall is attributed to companies calling their employees back to the office, leading to a significant rise in commuters using the metro to avoid traffic congestion.

Over the past ten days, Namma Metro has seen a 25% increase in daily revenue, with earnings exceeding two crore rupees daily, totaling 25 crores over the period. To accommodate the growing number of passengers, additional trains have been introduced on the purple route, with 15 trains now running daily compared to nine earlier.

Namma Metro Revenue All Time High

The busiest stretch on this route is the Chellaghatta to Whitefield section, with trains scheduled every three and a half minutes. The Kempegowda metro station has witnessed the highest footfall, particularly due to increased traffic to ITPL. In response to this surge, passenger numbers have doubled at the Visvesvaraya metro station, necessitating adjustments in train schedules, including earlier departures from Baiyappanahalli metro station.

The cancellation of work-from-home options by companies is cited as the primary reason for the surge in metro ridership and revenue. Morning peak hours are witnessing overcrowding due to the influx of commuters, making it essential for Namma Metro to adjust its services to meet the growing demand.
