Namma Metro Purple Line Disruption: Why BMRCL's 15-Loop Trains From Majestic Station Falls Short Of Expectatio
Commuters in Bengaluru's bustling Whitefield area are expressing frustration after experiencing disruptions on the Purple Line of the metro system during peak commuting hours. Reports have emerged of trains terminating unexpectedly midway, leaving passengers stranded and exacerbating travel woes.
The inconvenience faced by commuters during peak hours on Bengaluru metro's Purple Line persists, with many unable to find direct trains to Whitefield station. Commuters complain that most trains terminate at Garudacharpalya, requiring them to transfer to another train on the same line to reach Whitefield.

On Monday, a user named Sashi posted on social media, "These mandatory trips to Garudachar Palya continue. Why??? This doesn't make sense at all." Other users suggested that this arrangement is to manage heavy rush at key stations like KR Puram, Indiranagar, and Majestic. One user commented, "They need to clear Majestic to prevent dangerously large crowds. Garudachar Palya allows trains to reverse and serve important stations like MG Road, Indiranagar, Banaswadi, and KR Puram."

Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan also raised concerns, urging Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to address the issue promptly. In a social media post, PC Mohan stated, "Despite Namma Metro running 15 loop trains on the Purple Line from Majestic, terminating at Garudachar Palya inconveniences thousands of Whitefield commuters. Passengers heading to Whitefield have to disembark and wait for another crowded train. BMRCL needs to address this immediately."
Following a surge in passenger numbers during peak hours, BMRCL has increased train frequency starting from June 6. "During morning peak hours, trains will originate from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) at intervals of 3 to 3.3 minutes up to 10:25 am, heading towards Bengaluru East," BMRCL stated in a recent update.
