Live Hassan Election Results 2024: It's Prajwal Revanna Trailing
The Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, renowned for its Hoysala period architectural marvels and UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Belur and Halebeedu, has a rich political history. Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda represented this constituency from 1991 to 1994, 1998 to 1999, and again from 2004 to 2014. Currently, the Hassan constituency comprises eight Assembly segments, with the JD(S) holding four seats, while the BJP and Congress hold two seats each.
In Hassan, the long-standing political rivalry between two major influential families takes center stage as Deve Gowda's grandson, Prajwal Revanna, seeks re-election as the joint candidate of the BJP-JD(S) alliance. His opponent is Shreyas M. Patel, the grandson of Deve Gowda's fierce rival, the late G. Puttaswamy Gowda.

For those unfamiliar, Puttaswamy Gowda first contested against Deve Gowda of the erstwhile Janata Party in the 1985 Assembly polls as an independent candidate but lost. However, as a Congress candidate, he later defeated Deve Gowda in the 1989 state elections and again in the 1999 general elections from the Hassan seat.
Deve Gowda has represented the Hassan seat in Parliament five times. In 2019, he made way for his grandson Prajwal, who, as the joint candidate of the Congress-JD(S) alliance, won by over 1.4 lakh votes.
This time, a total of 15 candidates are contesting from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, with the main contest being between the sitting MP Prajwal Revanna and the Congress' Shreyas M. Patel. During the 2019 polls, Prajwal Revanna received 6,76,606 votes, defeating the rival BJP candidate A. Manju, who received 5,35,282 votes, by a margin of 1,41,324 votes.
