Leopard Kills 3-Month-Old Calf In Sirsi, Residents And Tourists Urged To Stay Vigilant!
In the villages near Sirsi city, leopard attacks are becoming more frequent. On Sunday night, a leopard entered a barn in Isalur village and devoured a cow. This incident occurred just five or six kilometers from Sirsi city. The leopard managed to jump over the barbed wire fence of Subhash Reddy's property, who is a former Gram Panchayat Vice President and farmer.
The leopard consumed the intestines of a three-month-old calf but left without harming the other cows. The family remains worried that the leopard might return for another attack since it has tasted blood. Five or six months ago, a similar incident occurred when the leopard attempted to enter their property at dusk and later attacked a dog from another house.

Leopard Sightings Increase in Nearby Villages
Reports indicate that leopards have been spotted more frequently in several villages such as Chipagi, Yakkumbi, Bisalakoppa on the Hubballi route, Ajjibala on the Sagar route, and others along the Kumta route. This has caused significant concern among residents living near forested areas.
The recent attack in Isalur village has heightened anxiety among villagers. Not only Isalur but also neighboring communities are on edge due to these incidents. Residents fear for their safety and that of their livestock as leopards continue to roam nearby.
Tourists Warned About Wildlife Dangers
Sirsi is a popular tourist destination attracting visitors from across India and abroad. Tourists often park their vehicles by the roadside during educational tours. Villagers are now warning tourists about potential wildlife threats, including leopards and wild boars.
The forest department is urged to act swiftly to capture the leopard before it poses a threat to humans. Many people travel along forest-edge highways daily for work or study, making it crucial to address this issue promptly.
