Lalbagh Flower Show 2024 August In Bengaluru Sees Record Footfall, Earns ₹92.5 Lakh
The Lalbagh flower show in Bengaluru, held in celebration of Independence Day, attracted a record-breaking 210,000 visitors on Thursday, generating a remarkable ₹92.5 lakh in revenue for the Karnataka Horticulture Department, as reported by The Hindu.
This year's event is themed around the life of Dr. B R Ambedkar, honored as a "Universal Scholar," "Architect of the Constitution," and "Bharat Ratna."

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the show on August 8. Although the Independence Day 2023 event, which highlighted Kengal Hanumanthaiah, drew about 245,000 attendees, it only generated ₹81.5 lakh due to free entry during peak times to manage the crowds, according to the report.
Running until August 19, this edition of the flower show is designed to be waste-free, with the Horticulture Department collaborating with organizations to significantly reduce litter and plastic waste. The department anticipated a high turnout for the 216th edition of the show, which features thematic displays and video screenings on Dr. B R Ambedkar's life.
In an innovative touch, organizers installed screens throughout the garden to display videos showcasing Ambedkar's milestones and impactful speeches. The show also includes exhibits that illustrate his life journey, from childhood to his later years, with a 'jeevana darshana' at the glasshouse in the botanical garden.
The last Independence Day flower show at Lalbagh, themed around the 'Vidhana Soudha,' Karnataka's legislative building, and Kengal Hanumanthaiah, who played a pivotal role in its construction, also featured return journey paper tickets from the Lalbagh metro station for the Republic Day flower show.
