Karnataka Weather Alert: Yellow Alert Issued, Bengaluru to Stay Breezy With Light Rain In Next 48 Hours
Karnataka weather alert: Light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds is likely to lash isolated parts of Karnataka over the next four days, according to the latest weather forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While brief spells of rain are expected in certain regions, dry conditions are forecast to persist in several northern districts, reflecting the uneven nature of the current weather system.
In its latest bulletin issued on April 11, the IMD has placed Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka under a yellow alert for April 11 and 12, with forecasts of thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure area currently lies over the west-central Bay of Bengal as of the morning of April 10, 2025 (0830 IST), accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-tropospheric levels. It is expected to move northeastwards and gradually weaken over the central Bay of Bengal within the next 12 hours.
On the same lines, weather blogger Vijay, who runs the X handle 'Namma Karnataka Weather,' noted that the circulation over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) has shifted northeastward, with the low-pressure area (LPA) now persisting over the northern Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal-Bangladesh coastline.
He added that inland wind convergence continues across much of the southern peninsula, increasing the likelihood of thundershowers this evening across Malnad, South Interior Karnataka (SIK), Uttara Kannada (UK), and North Karnataka (NK). Coastal areas are also likely to receive rainfall today.
Thunderstorm activity seen along Karnataka Coast since early morning
"Heavy rain, accompanied by thunder, lashed several parts of the Mangalore city on Friday morning. The downpour continued unabated for nearly an hour, catching many by surprise.''
Meanwhile, on April 10th Koppal district had recorded 80mm of rainfall.
