Karnataka Weather Alert: What's In Store For Bengaluru? Check Weather Forecast
Bengaluru woke up to a cloudy morning on Tuesday, signaling a shift in weather patterns expected throughout the day. Compared to yesterday, the minimum temperature is anticipated to be higher, with a corresponding rise in the maximum temperature as well. On Wednesday, it is expected to bring a notable change as Bengaluru braces for a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain expected throughout the day.
Discussing the current monsoon phase, Vijay, a weather enthusiast from 'Namma Karnataka Weather,' highlighted the likelihood of widespread moderate showers in Karavali, with isolated areas experiencing heavy rainfall. In Malnad, scattered light to moderate showers are expected. Meanwhile, Southern Interior Karnataka (SIK) and Northern Karnataka (NK) may witness scattered light rains.

Vijay noted the absence of significant support in terms of Low Pressure Area (LPA) or Trough in the Bay of Bengal, indicating that the rains in Karavali are primarily influenced by localised conditions.
4 districts in Bengaluru Rural recorded above-normal rainfall
Reflecting on June's weather performance, Vijay shared data for Bengaluru Rural, where Doddaballapura, Devanahalli, and Nelamangala taluks reported above-normal rainfall. Key locations like Bhaktarahalli in Doddaballapura recorded 217.00mm, Hadonahalli at 211.00mm, and Devanahalli at 209.60mm, highlighting their significant rainfall totals for the month.
Bengaluru Weather forecast:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the city will experience chilly weather due to a cloudy atmosphere, which is expected to continue for the next three to four days. Some parts of the city witnessed light showers on Monday morning and evening.
Weather forecast: Yellow Alert Issued
According to the Meteorological Department's forecast, the coastal and Malnad regions are expected to receive heavy rainfall.
The Met department has issued a yellow alert for six districts, including Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Chikkamagalur and Shivamogga. A couple of places in Shivamogga district are likely to receive heavy rain, as per the forecast.
Monsoon has covered entire India
The weather agency also announced that the southwest monsoon has covered the entire country on 2nd July 2024, six days earlier than the normal date of July 8th. According to IMD's statement, "The southwest monsoon further advanced into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab today, thereby covering the entire country on 2nd July 2024, ahead of the normal date of July 8th (six days earlier than normal)."
Additionally, the IMD forecasted above-normal rainfall for India in July. IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra stated that rainfall across the country is likely to be more than 106% of the long-period average of 28.04 cm. He highlighted, "Normal to above-normal rainfall is expected over most parts of the country, except parts of northeast India and some regions in northwest, east, and southeast peninsular India."
The Meteorological Office also predicted normal to below-normal maximum temperatures over many parts of northwest India and southern peninsular India, excluding the west coast.
