Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Puts Bengaluru and 14 Districts On Yellow Alert Till April 17
Karnataka weather alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day weather forecast for Karnataka, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the state. As per the latest bulletin released on April 15, gusty winds could reach speeds between 30 and 50 km/h. Several parts of the state are likely to experience scattered light to moderate rainfall.
According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the coastal, Malnad, and southern interior districts of Karnataka are expected to witness light to moderate rain over the next few days. Meanwhile, northern interior districts could see light rainfall with isolated drizzles. The changing weather pattern is attributed to seasonal instability, and residents are advised to be cautious.

In light of this forecast, IMD Bengaluru has issued a Yellow Alert for 15 districts in the state for April 15. These include Shimoga, Davangere, Chitradurga, Chikmagalur, Bellary, Tumkur, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Ramnagar, Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, and Kolar. The alert warns of potential thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate rain. People living in these districts are urged to take necessary precautions, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours when weather activity tends to intensify.
According to weather blogger Vijay, who runs the X handle Namma Karnataka Weather, inland wind convergence is continuing to persist across the Malnad region, nearby taluks, and parts of South Interior Karnataka (SIK). This weather pattern is expected to bring scattered light to moderate thundershowers in districts including Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi, Uttara Kannada (UK), Belagavi, Haveri, Chamarajanagar, and Davanagere.
Also, isolated light rains are expected in other parts of the state. Residents are advised to stay updated through official weather advisories, especially when traveling across affected areas.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast:
After five days, Bengaluru returned to normal daytime temperature at 34.1°C; a partly cloudy day followed with chances of light rain by evening.
In Bengaluru, the weather will remain cloudy with light showers expected for the next three days. The city is likely to receive more widespread rain on April 18, followed by partly cloudy skies on April 19. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33°C, while the minimum will remain between 21°C and 22°C. Despite the cloud cover, there is no significant dip in temperatures anticipated.
Today's statewide forecast suggests that isolated areas across Karnataka may receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Weather experts have urged people to stay updated with alerts and advisories from official sources such as IMD and KSNDMC. With the possibility of gusty winds and lightning, residents are advised to avoid open areas and remain indoors during severe weather.
This spell of pre-monsoon rain brings much-needed relief to some parts of the state, especially areas battling rising temperatures and dry conditions over the past few weeks. However, officials continue to monitor the situation closely to assess any potential weather-related disruptions.
