Bengaluru Rains Expected Next Week

The culprit behind the dry spell has been the unusually inactive pre-monsoon Peninsular India trough. This weather system, responsible for bringing rain to the region, has remained dormant throughout the season. While parts of Kerala and coastal Karnataka saw some benefit, interior regions like North and South Karnataka, including Bengaluru, have suffered the most.

But the wait is almost over! A north-south trough stretching from Telangana to Kerala, along with a low-pressure system, is about to become active. This will trigger light, scattered rain across the southern tip of the peninsula any moment now.

By the beginning of next week, the trough will be fueled by increased moisture, potentially bringing light showers to Bengaluru as early as May 6th. However, the real action is expected between May 7th and 11th, with the possibility of isolated heavy downpours. The good news is that temperatures are also set to drop from May 7th onwards, leading to a pleasant and cooler weekend on May 11th and 12th.
