Karnataka Weather Alert: Bengaluru to See Cloudy Days And Rain for 3 Days as IMD Issues Storm Warnings

Karnataka Weather Alert: Rain made a welcome return to Karnataka as light to moderate showers were recorded across Coastal, South Interior, and parts of North Interior Karnataka, bringing relief from the summer heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest bulletin issued on April 13, also issued storm warnings for several districts in Karnataka.

In its latest bulletin issued on April 13, the IMD said an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over South Assam and another over the central parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in the lower tropospheric levels.

''A Western Disturbance is also present as a trough in the westerlies in middle tropospheric levels, roughly along longitude 81°E and north of latitude 21°N. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Madhya Pradesh, from which a trough runs down to central Telangana. Another trough extends from central parts of West Rajasthan to the same cyclonic circulation over southeast Madhya Pradesh. In addition, a separate trough runs from central parts of Bihar to North Coastal Odisha in the lower tropospheric levels. These combined systems are contributing to the prevailing instability and thunderstorm activity across parts of Karnataka and adjoining regions,'' IMD stated.

Meanwhile, weather blogger Vijay, who runs the X handle 'Namma Karnataka Weather,' noted that the Easterlies are back. According to him, the easterlies were affected over the past three to four days due to a circulation over the Bay of Bengal. Now that the system has moved inland, the seasonal winds have returned. He mentioned that rains would again be prevalent across the Malnad region and adjacent taluks. However, rainfall in South Interior Karnataka is likely to reduce starting today.''
