Karnataka: Another Engineer Dies By Suicide Amidst Rising Concerns Of Domestic Violence In Hassan

A tragic incident unfolded in Shettyhalli village, Hassan, where a 35-year-old engineer, Pramod, ended his life by plunging into the Hemavati river. The distressing event, resulting from continuous domestic disputes, echoes the sorrowful tale of Atul Subhash, a techie from Uttar Pradesh who similarly took his life in Bengaluru after suffering harassment at the hands of his wife. Pramod, who was employed with a Benz company in Bengaluru, had been entangled in recurrent quarrels with his wife, leading to unbearable tension. The situation was exacerbated by the alleged harassment from her siblings, pushing Pramod towards this drastic decision.

On December 29th, leaving his mobile phone at home, Pramod ventured out, never to return. His disappearance prompted his parents to file a missing person report at the K.R. Puram police station. That same night, Pramod's motorcycle was discovered near the Hemavati river bridge, with bank passbooks found on it. Upon contacting the number in the passbooks, Pramod's father was informed about the location of the two-wheeler. This grim discovery marked the beginning of a search that would end in sorrow for Pramod's family.

Suicide

The following day, police and fire brigade personnel embarked on a search operation in the Hemavati river. It wasn't until Wednesday morning that their efforts led to the retrieval of Pramod's body from the water, bringing a somber close to the search. The Alur police conducted an on-site investigation, piecing together the events leading up to Pramod's tragic end.

Amidst this heartbreak, a confrontation erupted when Pramod's wife, Nandini, accompanied by her mother and child, arrived to view Pramod's body. An argument broke out between her and Pramod's family members, who held her responsible for his death. The situation escalated, necessitating police intervention to ensure the safety of Nandini and her family. This unfortunate turn of events has left the community in shock, mourning the loss of a young life to domestic unrest.

This incident has not only saddened those directly affected but also serves as a grim reminder of the devastating impact of family conflict. It underscores the vital importance of addressing domestic issues before they lead to irreversible outcomes. As the community reflects on Pramod's untimely demise, the hope is that this tragic event will encourage families to seek help and resolve conflicts in constructive ways, preventing such tragedies in the future.
