IT raids Bengaluru officials- Rs 4.7 crore in new currency, Lamborghini found
A raid at Bengaluru has led to a major seizure of over Rs 6 crore in cash which were largely new notes.
The IT department says that out of the Rs 6 crore, 4.7 crore were the new Rs. 2,000 currency notes. The raids conducted by the IT department of Karnataka and Goa was at the residence of two state government engineers and two state contractors.
The income tax department is still investigating to find out how so many new currency notes were available with the two persons. While officials have confirmed the raid and seizure, they also say that the investigations are on.
In addition to the cash, the department had also found 7 kilograms of gold and 7.5 kilograms of jewellery and also a Lamborghini car. In addition to this the IT department sleuths have also found several property documents. It was also noticed that these persons were in the possession of high end luxury cars.
The IT department officials have been conducting raids at various locations in Bengaluru for the past couple of days. On Wednesday sleuths of the IT department conducted raids at the residences of various officials including one who is close to the chief minister. Raids are likely to continue over the course of the week as new information comes by, officials have also said.
