How Satellite Ring Road (STRR) Will Ease Traffic In Bengaluru? Watch This Video

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated two stretches of the Satellite Town Ring Road today, connecting Dobaspete-Doddaballapura (42km) and Doddaballapura-Hoskote (37.6 km).

The STRR will connect Anekal, Kanakapura, Ramanagara, Magadi, Dabaspet, Doddaballapura, Devanahalli, Hosur and Hoskote.

The STRR stretch, connecting the Tumakuru highway with the Bengaluru-Kolar route, will divert a minimum of 20,000 trucks and commercial vehicles away from Bengaluru. Traffic from the Tumakuru direction can now take the route through Dabaspet, Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, and reach Hoskote via the ring road.

The trucks that previously traversed city streets to access the cargo terminals of Kempegowda International Airport via Ballari Road, as well as those bound for Hyderabad, will now use the ring road.

Cost Of The Two Stretches

The STRR is being developed under Bharatmala Paroyojana at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore. While the 42-km Dabaspete-Doddaballapur bypass, developed at a cost of Rs 1438 crore, the 37.6 km Doddaballapura-Hoskote bypass, completed at a cost of Rs 1317 crore.

The STRR isexpected to reduce traffic congesti in Bengaluru by up to 30 per cent. The PM threw open two stretches totalling abut 80 km length.

Talking about the project, NHAI project director KB Jayakumar told The Times Of India: "This road also saves a lot of time for motorists. It connects KIA, the industrial belt in Dabaspet, Sompura, Doddaballapur. In future, the road will have access to the proposed multi-modal logistics park near Dabaspet. Already, motorists have started using the entire 80-km stretch."

The will ease traffc by 20 per cent in the Hebbal junction.
